Role The Mechanical Engineer position is part of the Fawley Inspection Group core support function. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for providing technical mechanical engineering support to the Inspection, Maintenance and Projects Groups. The role also requires close liaison with other Company Subject Matter Experts, as required. The Mechanical Engineer is the primary contact for Re-rates, Fitness for Service Assessments and the mechanical specification and design/fabrication reviews of new static equipment.

Job Description Provide mechanical engineering support to EPCo projects through all stages of project development, from feasibility studies and process design reviews through detailed scoping and design, to fabrication and commissioning.
Provide mechanical engineering support to EPCo operating units principally through the Fawley Inspection Group. Main activities will be relating to static equipment FFS assessments, repair specification, purchase specifications, re-rate assessments and failure investigations.
Be the EPCo owner of/representative for the Fawley Site Pipe Specification database. This will include the issuing of new pipe specifications and the updating of existing pipe specifications.
Qualifications The Mechanical Engineer should be a Corporate Member of IMechE, or equivalent.
Basic level of materials engineering knowledge/experience to aid specification/assessment of suitable materials as part of the design process.
Knowledge and Experience The Mechanical Engineer must have experience within static equipment inspection, maintenance and/or design and good understanding of commonly used design and fabrication codes for pressure vessels and process piping.
Knowledge of and experience in using mechanical tools for pressure vessel design, piping flexibility analysis and finite element analysis to support design verification and FFS assessment.
