Role ExxonMobil is looking to recruit a Machinery Engineer to be based full-time in its highly successful Fife Ethylene Plant near Edinburgh.
The successful candidate will have initiative and flexibility, and enjoy developing solutions for challenging process machinery problems. A natural problem-solver, wishing to develop in a technical leadership role focused on plant rotating equipment, he or she can look forward to a stimulating breadth of work and exposure in their discipline.
Reports to Engineering Manager
Job Description •The candidate will be a professional mechanical engineer with around 10 years of broad experience and subject matter expertise in equipment engineering, selection, operation and maintenance of process machinery. He or she will be able to supply specialist technical support for plant operating and reliability initiatives, capital projects and day to day troubleshooting of process machinery issues.
•Working in multi-discipline teams, the candidate will have knowledge of associated engineering discipline interfaces in process systems, and understand the application of relevant industry standards.
•With the ability to develop business driven solutions to complex equipment engineering issues as part of, or as lead of multi-discipline team, the successful candidate can expect long term growth in his or her field, working in the local and global engineering communities of ExxonMobil. Traveling to vendor shop or company networks in support of the role will be required on occasion.
•The candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe work within his area and contribute actively to achieve a flawless operation, developing long term strategies for critical equipment and contributing to the development of others using his or her ability to mentor and develop less experienced engineers.
•The ability to analyze data and recommend changes to operating conditions and equipment strategies is required, in addition to troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis experience.
•Further to this, the candidate will be able to initiate projects to improve the reliability and performance of machinery and machinery systems based on a solid business justification, and provide input to the development of technical and business plans relevant to the role. Qualifications •Qualified to degree level, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge and Experience •With around 10 years' of experience in oil and gas production or petrochemical operations with a main focus on machinery / rotating equipment.
