| Role | The Technical Support Engineer provides day to day support to the operations department to ensure that the operating strategy is achieved, energy consumption is minimized, no environmental limits are exceeded and that the unit operates within its reliability and safety envelope. The incumbent will also be expected to evaluate long term performance trends and act to ensure that units are not prematurely limited.
The incumbent will work towards a technical leadership role within the refinery, ultimately being one of the five Process Lead Engineers onsite.

| Main Tasks & Responsibilities | Work closely with one of the major refinery business units acting as a key link between the operations group and the refinery economists, product planners and project development team to define the optimal operating strategy both short and long term. The incumbent is responsible for the ongoing development of the unit in terms of profitability, reliability and safety making recommendations and decisions which will have a significant impact on refinery profitability. The work will include, day to day contact with the unit, troubleshooting of unit limits and product quality issues, energy optimisation, long term monitoring (catalyst activity, equipment fouling, tower performance), conducting technical studies (unit debottlenecking, catalyst replacement strategies, heat integration), initial scoping and development of small and large multi M$ projects;
Provide on-site technical support for major unit turnarounds, equipment interventions (catalyst loading) and project start-ups;
Take a lead roll in company networking with counterparts in other European and global affiliates and act as Refinery contact with region technology specialist;
Support plant integrity assessments (HAZOP and Site Wide Risk Assessments)

| Qualifications | Chartered Engineer or Graduate Chemical Engineer working towards Chartered status;
5-10 years experience in process support and project development and design; petrochemical industry experience with either an operating company or a major process engineering contractor would be desirable.

| Knowledge & Skills | Design or operating experience (preferably both) with a strong process engineering focus within the Petrochemical industry (petroleum development/refining/petrochemical) is desirable
Have experience in project scoping and development as well as have the ability to effectively work in a cross functional team to deliver the refinery objectives.
Leadership/management skills including adaptability, analytical capability, initiating action plans, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, honesty and integrity, drive and perseverance with a commitment to the highest of standards;
Good English communication skills, written and verbal.
