RoleThe objective of this role is to support Investment Screening, Project Development & Design for Medium & Large Capital Investment projects for ExxonMobil affiliate Refinery sites in Europe & the Middle East and provide technical support as required during Project Execution and Commissioning.

Main Tasks & ResponsibilitiesParticipation in facility screening studies and preparation of project design basis and front end engineering designs for Offsite & Utilities systems as part of capital investment projects typically in the range of $3M to $70M. This will include preparation of Heat and Material Balances, existing equipment design checks and new equipment design specification (Steam generation and co-generation systems, Steam distribution and condensate collection systems, Cooling water systems, Plant Fuel systems and Product storage, blending and loading facilities). Specification of materials of construction (in conjunction with Mechanical & Materials Specialists), specification of control system & emergency instrumentation philosophies. Provide Process Technical Quality Assurance and Design Follow-up guidance and support to engineering contractor organisations through detailed engineering phase for Offsites & Utilities systems - normally on a visit basis. Provide field start-up process engineering support for Offsites & Utilities during commissioning. Provide Specialist Offsites & Utilities technology application and consulting support. Conduct Offsites & Utilities system optimisation studies - e.g. performing steam, water and fuel balances, conducting energy improvement studies, reliability improvement studies and storage utilisation studies. Work collaboratively with, and as mentor to, colleagues working in the Offsites & Utilities field within Affiliate organisations in Europe and the Middle East.
QualificationsChartered Chemical Engineer Degree Class 1st or 2.1
Knowledge & SkillsPetrochemical Industry experience 10+ years. Knowledge of Simulation and Process Design Tools. Development of Design Specifications for Offsites & Utilities equipment including knowledge of heat transfer, boilers, Equipment layout/spacing, overpressure protection, Hazop procedures and relevant codes and standards. Some knowledge of onsite petrochemical unit process design highly desirable. Utilities and/or Offsites Plant operations support and Start Up experience required.
