Welcome to the COSLA opportunities microsite.
Having taken up the post of Chief Executive in COSLA a little over four years ago, one of my first tasks following the comprehensive review which the organisation had just gone through was to implement a new structure for the organisation.
The structure we opted for is based on themed teams working across the disciplines. The aim of the themed teams is two fold. Firstly to increase COSLA’s capacity and effectiveness to approach issues in a coherent and holistic way and secondly to allow more variety and turnover amongst the team leaders, policy managers and policy officers who make up the bulk of the themed teams.
The innovative structure was to allow team staff at all levels the opportunity to develop, gain experience and if they chose to do so advance their careers within COSLA or the wider Scottish local government network.
Following our recent campaigns since 2006 we are delighted that our partnership working with Munro Consulting has proved successful in the recruitment of numerous posts in all of our core areas which have been filled by excellent people who are already making a significant difference within the COSLA Team.
Our new structure is committed to developing the careers of talented individuals within Local Government; with this in mind if you feel that you have the skill, drive and passion to work for a fast moving, political, lobbying organisation, we want to hear from you.
Current opportunities will appear on this microsite as they arise. Please click on current opportunities to find out more or to apply.
If you wish to be considered for a future post at COSLA we would request that you click on the Talent Bank option above and register your interest in future opportunities as they become available at COSLA. This way, our Recruitment Partners at Munro Consulting will be able to keep in contact with you and advise you appropriately, as opportunities arise in the future.
COSLA is an organisation for committed, ambitious individuals who share our pride; not only in our own organisation, but also in Scottish Local Government and the outstanding job it does for the community and everyone of its elected Councillors.
Yours sincerely

Rory Mair - Chief Executive
