Aberdeen is a thriving and cosmopolitan city of which we can be proud. With a population of 202,370, unemployment rates consistently under 2% and a buoyant economy fuelled by engineering, technology and life science skills, Aberdeen is well placed to assist in the diversification and expansion of the traditional industries.  The development of a successful oil and gas industry over 40 years will also be a useful template in transferring practices to the emerging renewables sector.

These are exciting and challenging times for the Council, as we look to further improve our services, drive organisational and cultural change, and continue to deliver tangible benefits for residents and taxpayers. Replacing traditional practices with new, innovative ideas and simplifying our organisational structure will be key to achieving our goals, as will establishing a robust governance framework.

To make these aims a reality we need an inclusive and effective leader who will inspire confidence at every level. Using your experience of change management, you will foster a corporate culture that champions quality, integrity and customer service. A culture that will enhance the Council’s reputation and make a real difference to the people of Aberdeen.
